Maybe it was the two large party scenes that brought out the playfulness.

The opening choruses in second act were particularly fun as we were supposed to be masked matadors and gypsies.

Being a gypsy was fun, even if my mask kept slipping over my eyes. I cut the eyeholes even bigger and I still had trouble seeing.
