The Bed Chamber

Cats can sleep as much as 15 hours a day, making them one of the sleepiest mammals. Since cats' senses are designed to work best in the dark, the frequent naps taken during the day are a way of conserving energy for the big hunt at night.

When a cat is in a deep sleep she may exhibit behavoirs that indicate dreaming. Her paws and whiskers may twitch, her claws may retract and extend; in fact, she may even vocalize! These are signs that she is totally relaxed.

It is always wise to let sleeping cats lie. Cats have extremely sensitive nervous systems and need the tranquilizing effects of a nap to help them cope with the stresses of life.

Cats will sleep anywhere they want to which is usually with you. If you don't want your cat in bed with you offer a more appealing option, like something soft and warm. Your cat will need to "discover" this place on her own, so don't force the issue.
