Cats can jump up to seven times higher than their own height. But even though cats have fatty layers in their footpads to protect them when they jump down, cats don't always land on their feet. Unfortunately many cats are injured in falls from high places. Upper story windows should be screened securely.

If your cat suddenly seems clumsy and knocking things over, there's a good chance a vision problem may be affecting his judgements. Instead of dismissing this as an "awkward phase," take him to the vet for an eye examination.

If your cat has just had his shots, it's normal for him to be a little cranky. He may also sleep more then usual or have a slightly decreased appetite for a day or two.

You cannot catch a cold from your cat; however, cats can pass respiratory illnesses to each other. It is wise to restrict your cat's exposure to other cats who are not a member of your household.
