Never allow your kitten to scratch at you in play. When she becomes an adult she will think this is an appropriate behavior and she will not understand that this can hurt.

Although kittens hone their hunting skills by stalking and catching almost anything that tickles their fancy, cat toys are still important. They help kittens develop fun-loving personalities and improve muscle coordination.

Kittens should avoid excessive fluid intake because it can damage their immature kidneys.

A female kitten can be safely spayed before she goes into heat or has a litter. Check with your vet about the best age to do this.

Newcomer kittens (and older cats too) need time to adjust to their surroundings. Give them a safe place to hide and feel secure and don't be surprised if they don't show their faces for a while! Cats should never be let outside until after a week in their new home.

Cuddle, snuggle, handle, nuzzle your cute little kitten. A loved kitten grows up to be a cat that loves people; and studies show that cuddled kittens may be more resistant to disease!
