The Hunting Grounds

The sounds and motions of small animals seem to trigger an automatic reaction from cats. Cats learn to stalk prey from instinct, but also partly from their mothers.

As a kitten grows older....

...his eyes and body begin to coordinate...

...until at last he is able to reach out and grab his "prey".

Cat's pupils change their shape when concentrating on an object they consider their prey. This helps in their distance perception and makes them extraordinary hunters.

Cats have a very delicate sense of touch, making them able to use their paws in a highly sophisticated manner.

Twilight is the most active time for many cats. This is due to their nocturnal hunting instincts. If your cat races around the house in the evening, she is just responding to her natural inclination to hunt; don't worry-she is not hyper-active!
